Gold Medal Game

After a long week of great curling, Northwest Territories earned the gold medal and Hydrant Trophy with a tightly contested, nail-biting 11th end 6-5 victory over Manitoba. Both teams played well, with some fantastic shot-making by both teams. Congratulations to Northwest Territories for an undefeated Championship!

Tie-Breaker Results

MANITOBA TOOK AN EARLY LEAD AND STOLE TO TAKE A 6-2 LEAD AFTER THE 5TH. THEN SASKATCHEWAN ROARED BACK WITH STEALS OF THEIR OWN TO TAKE AN 8-7 LEAD AFTER 9 ENDS.
MANITOBA THEN HAD AN OPEN HIT FOR 2 IN THE 10TH FOR THE WIN. tHE GAME WAS VERY INTENSE AND BOTH TEAMS CURLED GREAT. MANITOBA NOW MOVES ON TO FACE BC IN THE 3 VS 4 GAME THIS AFTERNOON.

Manitoba has some fun

Team Manitoba had a "Team Blonding" night in preparation for the tie-breaker game.

Executive and Life members game

The Executive won but according to one life member (Bill Metzler), they cheated. They forced the lifers to curl with sticks and then they brought in an in-eligible player. They brought in a ringer, their driver, BC's Doug Marshall. Doug is much younger and can actually curl. But of course there are no sour grapes when the beer is poured and pizza consumed.

East/West Directors' game

East beat the West 5 to 2 in four ends in a hard fought game. Of course the west felt sorry for the east and gave them a big three in the final end on a very scary sheet of ice that in some places curled 6 feet but would stay straight for hits.

Ralph Elgren loses big money

Poor Ralphie, Saskatchewan's director lost over $300 yesterday and he never even went into the casino. MB's Val Poole took Ralph's wife Linda shopping and bought out some of the specialty shops. Ralph said that there is no more money and Linda can't buy any more. Linda went out with Val today and said it was OK, she would just write a cheque!!!!

Where is the "REAL" BOB POOLE

So on April 1 the Directors had a meeting to discuss nest year in Charlottetown and after much discussion, and the new Manitoba Director, "Young" Bob Poole making some motions and seconding some others, a motion by BC's Tom Kelly was made to bring back the "Old" Bob Poole since all he did was sleep through the meetings anyway.

HAVING A GREAT TIME.......WISH YOU WERE HERE!!!

THE STANDINGS ARE TIGHT AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY BALANCED FIELD.
IT MUST BE.......NORTH-WEST TERRITORIES ARE UNDEFEATED EVEN?????????

THE COMMARADERIE IS GREAT ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE NEW TEAMS THAT MADE IT THIS YEAR.
THERE ARE STILL LOTS OF FAMILIAR FACES TOO BETWEEN FRANKIE McCOURT AND THE FANS LIKE THE CLARKS FROM TRURO.

THE HOST COMMITTEE IS DOING A GREAT JOB WITH A SMALL HOST COMMITTEE BUT IT IS GETTING LOTS OF HELP FROM THE LOCAL DEEPARTMENTS WITH LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS.
THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN SOME OF THE DRIVERS MAPS WITH THE CAR KEYS SINCE THEY AREN'T ALL LOCAL GUYS AND DON'T GET INTO RICHMOND THAT OFTEN!!

SEE YOU LATER. KEEP YOUR STICKS ON THE ICE.
