KUDOS TO HOST COMMITTEE

A huge thankyou and pat on their collective backs to the Host Committee at this, our 50th Anniversary Championship.
Co-convenors, Winston Bryan and Peter MacDonald have brought together a wonderful crew to host this year. Everyone has done a great job and makes you feel welcome in this wonderful city and province. OK, the weatherman being the only one who doesn't seem to be co-operating. We'll have to send someone over to Environment Canada to have a talk with him/her. Even with the snow though, it hasn't really dampened anyone's spirits.
I think everyone who "has come from away" has a desire to come back for a summer view of this scenic area of our country.

Mid-week blahs

Well here we are 5,6,or 7 games in depending who you are and everyone is tired. It seems we've been here for 2 weeks really its only 1. Lots of folks here from all around the country with just about all of our life members in attendance as well.

Ol' Billy Metzler keeps showing up for the morning toast to the piper hoping to be invited out for the good Scotch. Seems to be working and wakes him up in the morning!
Funny thing about the piper, he always seems in good spirits too!

Too much food and drink makes all of us a bit draggy these days but, BOY!! IS THE FOOD EVER GOOD!? The hosting nights from all the provinces have been amazing and there is no shortage of food. All of the teams would like to thank their sponsors for donated product.

LIFE MEMBER, BILL METZLER OF MANITOBA AND HIS LOVELY WIFE OF 50 YEARS, MARLENE, CELEBRATED THEIR 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON MARCH 30th AT THE 50th CANADIAN FIRE FIGHTERS CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP. THE CAKE HAD THEIR WEDDING PHOTO ON IT AND THE PARTY WAS KEPT A PLEASANT SURPRISE.

IT'S A WET SNOW!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES! FROM +7 TO -2 WITH A TON OF WET SNOW! SURE WAS NICE ON THE ROOFTOP PATIO THE DAY BEFORE.

We've had great bands every night. On Sunday night, the teams take over and try to out do them with their own Karaoke versions!

OPENING CEREMONIES

The Opening ceremonies were amazing from the light show and flames to the slide show to the great tribute to our founder, Aubrey Neff. He would have been proud.
Co-convenors, Winston Bryan and Peter MacDonald deserve many pats on the back for a job well done. It was an emotional production (I had tears cuz I'm a sensitive guy).
